Resistor Color Code Chart

The resistor color code was developed in the early 1920s by the Radio Manufacturers Association. It remains the standard method for marking axial resistors today.

Frequently Asked Questions

Resistors use colored bands to indicate their resistance value and tolerance. Each color corresponds to a digit, multiplier, or tolerance percentage. Reading from left to right, the first bands give digits, the next gives the multiplier, and the last gives tolerance.
